The Homestay Programme differs from the Exchange in that the students who participate do not bring back a French student. Each host family is carefully selected by our French counterparts and will have children of approximately the same age as the Irish students. The Irish student will attend school with the child of the host family and while in France they will be very much at home and will be encouraged to join in all family activities; they will also have the full support of the French organisers whenever needed.

The Irish students can go to France at a time of their own choosing either during the school year or over the summer months. We can also try to accommodate students wishing to go on longer individual stays.

The cost of a 3 week Homestay Programme is €2200, which covers organisation, return journey to France, remuneration for the host family and the French organiser, and transport costs in France. Completed application forms along two recent passport-size photographs and a copy of the travelling student’s passport should be emailed to francoirishexchanges@gmail.com

A booking deposit of €500 is required to secure a place on the Homestay programme.
